Dear Parents/Carers, Thank you to all of our parents and grandparents who came along to our May Day celebrations last Friday. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and the children all danced and performed beautifully.
In the collection made at the end of the afternoon, we raised £76.40 for Hospice Care, so many thanks to everyone who donated to this extremely worthwhile cause.
Food, Glorious Food project
The Food, Glorious Food project which has been organised by the Newtown Community Association (NCA) is going very well and many thanks to those parents who have been able to help with the planters at Belmont Park and here at school. Last Wednesday morning, Cherry class participated in different activities related to the project and all had a fantastic time.

Year 6 SATS (Statutory Assessment Tests
Well done to all of our Year 6 pupils for working so hard in the lead up to the national tests which they have been sitting this week. They have all tried their best and we have been extremely impressed with their sensible attitudes and perseverance. 29% of our current Year 6 cohort has joined the school from overseas in the past two to three years with very little or no English to begin with, consequently we were delighted to have a team of interpreters supporting our pupils as readers in their home language, for the Mathematics tests.

The KS2 End of Year Show has now been chosen and we are very pleased to announce that it is called ‘Shakespeare Rocks!’ written by Steve Titford. All of our pupils from Year 3 upwards will be involved in this production and yesterday we auditioned and chose the pupils who would like a speaking part, with everyone being successful.
We are now looking for a talented artist to design our poster and programme for the show. All we need on the poster is the title ‘Shakespeare Rocks!’ and the design is left up to the pupils’ imaginations. The closing date is the 26th May so please hand it in to the office, clearly named.
Many thanks for your continuing support,
Ruth Jones - Head teacher
