Dear Parents/Carers, The KS2 End of year show ‘Shakespeare Rocks’ is now well underway and tickets will be on sale in the school office from Monday, 3rd July. Tickets will be £1 and due to our small hall will be limited to 2 tickets per family. Any tickets left unsold will be available from Friday, 7th July, so please ask in the office from this date, if you would like an extra ticket.
The Dress Rehearsal for the show will be held on Monday, 10th July at 9.30am, so any KS2 parents who have babies or toddlers or are unable to make the other two dates, are invited along to this performance. Please note that all parents and children will need a ticket if they want to come along and watch the show. KS1 children are invited to the Dress Rehearsal in school time on Monday, 10th July. As always, please can we remind parents that photos or videos which are taken by parents can only be used for private use and not downloaded onto any social media sites.
If any parents can donate long sleeve white shirts, children’s black or grey trousers or jogging bottoms -which we need to turn into britches could you please pass to the school office asap. Also if anyone has a sewing machine and would be happy to help run up a few items it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
An amazing £105.02 was raised by Olive class for the Grenfell Tower charity. Well done to the whole class for not only making the cakes, but also for giving up their break time to sell them. Brilliant team work all round and many thanks to Claire Ward for organising it all.

The clubs run on a 12 week block at a cost of £18.00 and can each take a maximum of 15 pupils. Please ask at the school office for a booking form.
Priority will be given to those pupils who have not had the chance to participate in these clubs this year.
School Dinners from September 2017
From September we will be leaving Fresha, our hot meal provider, and move back to Devon Norse.
This means that there will be a different menu and meals can now be ordered daily. Your child would have brought home today a new menu for September and October.
Your child will be asked if they wish to order Option 1 or Option 2 during morning registration.
It will be the responsibility of the pupil / parent to order the option which best suits their dietary needs. For medical dietary needs please speak to the school office.
Please note that jacket potatoes, mentioned on the menu, will not be available to order.
For reception class children, Miss Rowse will be setting up a system were parents will be able to assist their child with their choices when they drop off in the morning. This will be explained to parents during their child’s first week at school by the class teacher.
Paying Dinner money:
We ask parents to put all dinner money in an envelope marked with your child’s name and class. Meals cost £2.40 each, this should go to your child’s class teacher via their book bag on Monday morning (or the first day of the week). Cheques should be made payable to Devon County Council.
Please let the office know if your child will be late as we need to order dinners by 9.30am each day.
If your child is absent, money can be carried forward to the following week. If you are in receipt of Income Support or Income based jobseekers allowance or Child Tax Credits without working tax credits, you can apply for free school meals – please collect a form from the office.
New Dining Tables
We have been very lucky to have received funding from ‘Invest in Devon Local Project Fund grant ‘and ‘Locality Funding Budget’ to purchase some new dining room tables. Many thanks to Richard Westlake for his assistance in securing the funds to ensure a more effective and pleasant dining experience for both children and staff.
Newtown Community Preschool After School Club
As you may be aware Newtown Community Preschool have been running an After School Club (ASC) this half term as a pilot project. A decision on whether the ACS will continue to run in September is due to be made
shortly and key to this is understanding the demand for places. If your child/ren do not currently attend the ACS and you would be interested in joining please let Claire Ritchie (Preschool Administrator) know by
It would be helpful when emailing that you detail the age of your child/ren and what sessions you are interested in. We currently collect the children from school and run the ACS every week day until 6pm. Fees
(including snack) are £5 per child until 5pm or £9 per child until 6pm.
Many thanks for your continuing support,
Ruth Jones - Head teacher
